Presentation and demonstration by Canine Companions for Independence
– Exceptional Dogs for Exceptional People. Canine Companions’ highly trained
assistance dogs help children, adults and veterans with disabilities. Raised in
the homes of loving volunteers and trained by dedicated professionals, Canine Companions
assistance dogs are given free of charge to create life-changing independence to people with disabilities.
Canine Companions breeds Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and a cross of the two to be
assistance dogs. Volunteers care for Canine Companions breeder dogs and nurture newborn
puppies for eight weeks. Canine Companions puppies spend the next 14-18 months with volunteer
puppy raisers who provide basic obedience training, socialization and care.
An instructor and dog(s) will demonstrate what they are trained to do and explain how you can
apply for this assistance or volunteer your home for assistance dogs. We will not know the name of the
insturctor coming until one month before, depending on their schedule.

Jill Peters is an Entertainer Presenter, who owns Custom Comedy Company,
an agency specializing in customized clean comedy acts and family entertainment
for any occasion. Jill will review Carol Burnett's brand new memoir "This Time Together".
She'll sing music from Carol's long running comedy, variety and Broadway shows and enact some
of her famous comedy bits. This informative program also gives you background
information from two previous books on Carol Burnett

January 8
Stephanie Reinke with OLLI at UNT – Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the
University of North Texas --will speak to our group regarding the opportunities
available through these classes.


February 12


Richard and David Rodriquez will present and demonstrate a ladies self-defense program.
Richard is a 5th Degree Black Belt and David a 4th Degree Black Belt in Taekwondo.
They have both been in Martial Arts training over 19 years and are owners of Rodriguez
Martial Arts Academy in Highland Village.


March 11

Chelsea Burnett of Texas Storm Chasers will do a presentation on the safety precautions
before, during and after severe weather events, as well as historical data for the area.
She will talk these points through and illustrate with simple graphics and photos, plus
fun video clips of past chase experiences. Texas Storm Chasers staff consists of a highly-trained
meteorologist and a team of veteran storm chasers and photographers with a combined 40
years of experience.
